Catchmnet area

Has anyone figured out the rhyme and reason behind the catchment areas? I pick the point I really want to start out and move up the stream from there till I get one to draw. I know they need some work even after it draws, but it would be nice to start with something.

One thing I've done that seems to work well is to go up into your catchment area and use the water drop too. That will show where the water is flowing. Now, when you use the catchment tool, snap to the line created via the water drop.
