I’m having an issue, we are getting an error upon regenerating the catalog. We are getting this error.

ERROR: Unable to regenerate catalog.
Check file access permission for the following folders and file:

We are using AutoCAD MEP 2008 and have the catalogs on a read only network drive.
It doesn’t matter which catalog they try and regenerate Mvparts, Pipe, Duct, Conduit and Cabletray, all give this same error. I’m stumped for the fact it was working fine a week ago. I restored a backup in another directory located on the same network drive and pointed MEP to that directory for the given catalogs and it still generates the same error. If I copy the catalogs to their c: and point MEP to the respective directory then it all works fine.
Thoughts?

Thanks,

Have someone with write permissions to the network folder perform the regen?

I have write access and have done what you mentioned before but it is the users that have read only access that have this issue. They didn't have this same issue last week.

If you have regenerated the catalog, why are the users attempting to do so?

Before...

I would make a change to the catalog content and then I would post it to a network drive that they only had read access. They would get the popup to regenerate the catalog select the catalog to regenerate and the progress bar would show up and progress until complete.

Now they just get the error that I stated in the first post.

I'm not saying which way is right or wrong. I'm hoping I don't run into your issue.

I'm out of ideas.

Robert,

Thanks for the help, as it turns out I was making an issue out of it but in reality it wasn't an issue.
