i am trying to do an incident solar radiation analysis for the geometry in the attached file. the geometry was created in rhino (and is just a chunk of a larger more complex model). the calculation process is running incredibly slow. i am wondering if there is an issue in the setup - or if something with the geometry is causing the long calculation time.

my concern is that if this smaller model takes a long time to analyze - then the larger model will take forever - to the point that i can't really use the analysis effectively within our design process.

any thoughts?

thanks,
sean

What format did you take it into Ecotect in the first place from Rhino?
Also you have no thermal zones for the model being setup so unless your using only an analysis Grid I imagien there would not be much to see.
Also are you doing a specific time or period of time.

i exported an OBJ file from rhino to take into ecotect.

for incident solar radiation, i still need to setup a thermal zone? i thought i read that it wasn't completely necessary for this type of analysis. but, i guess you are saying it wouldn't be necessary if i was using an analysis grid? (which i am not).
