I have been trying to get all our survey and Cad settings up to date. We are wanting to have all the line work come in automatically when we load our survey points.
First off I set up the data collector with all the feature codes, and set the "join" where needed.
In LDC I have set the Description Key manager - under Default, and created desckeys that matched the ones in the data collector.
Next I went into the Figure Prefix Library and added the codes again, exactly how they are programed into the data collector.
As far as I can see everthing is correct, however, when I down load the points, the points along with the description with all be on the right layer, but the line work does not appear.
Am I missing a step to have the line work appear.
Thanks for your help
Are you using Land Desktop? Land Desktop is different from Civil 3D, but I believe it still used the FBK files. At least, if it's like Civil 3D was before the 2010 version, you can't get linework unless you bring in a FBK file. You can't just import your points from a CSV file the way you can with Civil 3D 2010.

If you have an asci point file and it's formatted correctly, the survey link will provide the capabilities to convert it to a .fbk file.

I am using Land Desktop, and yes it is brought in with a feildbook, .fbk file. I have been able to bring the points in on the right layers, however, the line work is not there.
thanks for the help
You might get better responses from the Land Desktop forum. It's been so long since I've used Land Desktop that I've forgotten how many things were setup in that program.

After I get the linework figured out, I am also trying to get the attributes from the collector to be plotted on the drawing. Is this possible? where can the attributes be located once in LDC.
Thanks for your help
Civil 3D is quite a bit different than Land Desktop, which is why I suggested you might get better answers in one of those forums. This is the forum for Civil 3D.
Don't be confused by the names - it's easy to confuse "Civil 3D" with "Civil 3D Land Desktop". These are two very different programs, and including "Civil 3D" in the names of both products was a decision that has caused much grief for Autodesk's customers.
For some unknown reason, there are four forums for Land Desktop here at AUGI. One is called "Land Desktop", the other "Land Desktop Companion". The "Civil Design Companion" and "Autodesk Survey" forums are also basically for Land Desktop. The people who frequent those forums are still using Land Desktop, and they can probably give you better answers than we Civil 3D users can give you. A lot of us have used Land Desktop in the past, but once we start using Civil 3D, the Land Desktop knowledge tends to melt away into the haze...

I posted into the Land Desktop forum, but was re-routed back to here. sorry
How did you get re-routed back to here? I see a post by you in the Land Desktop forums, but there are no replies.
This forum is for a different software product than the one you are using. Like I said, there is overlap in users, but you are more likely to get help in the Land Desktop forum. For most users, once they switch to Civil 3D, they kind of block Land Desktop from memory, and try to never use it ever again. (Well, if they can make it through C3D's learning curve, anyway...)

It's been a long time since I set this up so I don't remember the details but you need to create a Figure Prefix Library to define what layers the line work goes on. You also need to be sure to use the control codes in the point descriptions. For example, B for begin figure.

Sounds like you have done everything correctly. You are just missing the last step? Go to the LABELS menu, down to EDIT LABEL STYLES, pick tab POINT LABEL STYLES, look at the bottom right corner of that window. Have you turned on Descriptor key matching? Is it using the proper Descriptor key style?
(At least that's what we do here on 2007 and 2008. Other , newer versions may be a little different,)
Oh, your descriptor keys do not need to be in the Figure Prefix Library. The Figure Prefix Library is for linework and the Descriptor Key codes are for the placement of blocks or symbols into your drawing.
Just went and re-read your post a little more carefully. Your line work is not coming in because you put the "same descriptor key data" in your figure prefix library. These two tools are totally different,Your Figure Prefix library shoud have only line features in it, like EA , EC, TBC,TBCG and have those linear features assigned to the proper layer. (Set line color and type in the layer settings).
The Descriptor Key file should contain only a list of your blocks, like "PP", "SSMH", etc.
