Attached is the exterior elevation rendering of the house that was associated with my prior custom residential "interior" rendering. Modeling and docs were created in AutoCAD Architecture 2010 + VisionREZ. Rendering was completed by Robert S. using Autodesk 3ds Max Design. Design was created by Symmetry Architects for Phillip Jennings Custom Homes (Dallas, TX).
Thanks
Jay

would you really want to? Some of our clients homes, I look at and think "would I give anything to live in that" and then reality sets in and I realize that someone has to clean all that space lol. We had one client that wanted a kitchen prep room that was bigger than my main level.

Which tool do you use to draw street curve, street gutter and foot path like that?
Are you using revit?
It's beautifull.

Would I want to live in it? Heck yeah. If you lived in a house like this it means you can afford it and that means you don't care about the cleaning because you are not the one doing the work anyway. You are paying for somebody else to do it. Granted I would probably only want it for 1-2 years and then my philanthropy side would get the best of me and I would question why I have a house like that when people are starving and I would likely bend my money back to giving back to others. But for a little while it would be a nice problem to have should I have to live in a house like that :)

chien, No we do not use Revit. We are a production services firm and Autodesk developer so we exclusively develop on and use the AutoCAD Architecture platform. It has a very robust API that enables us to create high-end customizations. The Revit API is not robust enough for us to work with at this time and we need to keep the model and constructino documents in the same file format (DWG) vs. having to export the model to another platform to finish out documents.
In regard to the curbs those item’s were created in 3ds Max Design 2010 using the modify sweep tool with a custom profile. We can also create them in AutoCAD Architecture + VisionREZ add-on by simply creating a profile and then use the VisionREZ trim command. If working "only" in ACA you would create a profile and use as trim. For this particular rendering the driveway and side walk to house was done in 3ds Max Design 2010 using a FFD modifier with multi segments and bending to the desired layout. Our graphic artist does this because he can map the materials then bend the object and the mapping is always correct. The sidewalk running parallel to the street is just the same object repeated.
Thanks

Thanks for the heads up on the API. It's nice to know where we have a step up. That's the one issue that I've been complaining about with that other program and I think that's half the reason why they can't get high quality exchange of data between programs such as Ram and Risa. But now I guess Bentley has the solution for that now.

David, correct. The AutoCAD and AutoCAD Architecture API is VERY robust. Autodesk did a wonderful job of opening up those platforms to 3rd party developers. We have been able to do a ton of work with both the ACA and Design Review API that really leverages BIM technology for residential architects, developers and manufacturing operations.
I am sure Autodesk will eventually get the Revit API as robust as the ACA one but for now we could not program a comparable VisionREZ solution on Revit as we can with ACA. In fact, one of our latest developments (Options Manager) is being created for ACA but will have the framework to be usable in Revit as the API becomes more available. So we are building for the present and planning for the future on both platforms. :)
Thanks

There is a nice tool set from Archidigm that has all of the curbs, streets, and accessories already to go. They used Walls and slabs to create the items.

Yes, Odin at Archidigm.com has some excellent resources that I highly recommend. Great comment.
Thanks
