Can anyone shed some light on the Timber and Dimensioned Lumber families supplied and installed in the UK and in Metric under Metric Library\Structural\Framing\Wood?

The sizes don't seem to relate to UK standard sizes?
When looking at the txt files to the families d and b are iin inches in the table?
Area seems to be in centimeters but based on the imperial dimensions x 25.4mm = 1"
and I'm not sure what Sx Ix Sy Iy are supposed to be in because the units are other?

Someone must have made a true UK set of timber families based on the joist sizes in the TRADA tables?

Regards

Alan

Hi Alan,

It's the same in Revit Architecture - I've just been amending the supplied timber families dimensions but not the other properties as I leave that to the real Engineer ;)

They don't seem to have made any European timber structural families.

Hi William

I've been busy today, these might save you some time.

I can't believe that this standard stuff is not supplied with the core package when you install and have selected the country you are in!

There appears to be so much to do before you can really start to use Revit for real work.

Please let me know if you spot any bloopers

Next time I'm in the Lake District I'll take you up on that.... <VBG>

I have found a typo 13 lines up in the discription column. It should say 63x175 but my finger got 63x275 here are the corrected txt files if you don't want to edit the txt you have already downloaded.

I don't have the revit families in 2009 but you should be able to rename the 2009 lumber and timber revit family files to the same name as the txt files and it should then work in 2009
