Boss has new Dell Studio and his CD of Acad 2009 will not load. He wanted his laptop to be portable (field) but does not load. Do we need new drivers? What can we get from Autodesk that would make it work on his Dell. (Vista 64 bit). What do I need to make this happen. Thank you.

There could be several reasons. Is the drive a CD or DVD drive? AutoCAD 2009 should be on a DVD not a CD, so if the computer doesn't have a DVD drive it won't read it. Does it load/play other CD's/DVD's? Can the Acad 09 disk load on other machines?
You said the comp was Vista 63 bit? Is AutoCAD 2009 a 64 bit version or is it 32 bit? there are both.

The Acad 2009 program might be 32 bit? It loaded on a 2 year old HP laptop with Win XP.
Would there be 2 versions? One in 32 bit and one for 64 bit, but the same program?

If it loaded on XP it is probably 32 BIT. There should be two versions that came with it as far as I know unless you specified 32 Bit when you purchased your license. And yes, there are two versions of AutoCAD, they are the same except one is 32 bit and the other 63. The disk should be labeled accordingly.
