Hey guys,

Has anyone tried to import / export custom property data for mvparts using AutoCAD MEP 2010 yet? I was able to do this in 2008 and 2009, but now 2010 has a new feature called FATAL ERROR that is taking years off my life.

Steps:
1. Click on the "Manage" tab of the fabulous ribbon
2. Click on "Content Builder" button
3. Find an mvpart and click on the "Modify Part Size" button
4. Go to the "Properties" tab
5. Click on the "Edit Properties" button
6. Click on the "Save Custom Parameter Group" button
7. Click on "OK"
8. Yell at the screen and throw your stapler

Hey Buzz,

I haven't loaded 2010 yet but what you describe sounds like a serious glitch in the program.

Here's what I would do:

Retrieve Buzz's stapler
Suggest to Buzz he contact Autodesk and/or his reseller with this problem.
Go to Urban Dictionary to look up what Buzz just called me.Hope this helps,

So Scott...

At first I was angry at your reply... I picked up my stapler and was about to throw it at you but then I thought "wait a second, Scott is a smart guy - he probably gave you the answer, you just need to dig for it". So I looked at what you said again...

"Go to the Urban Dictionary"...

Ahhh, so the dictionary is where you look up the definitions of words...

Words... hmmm

Word... Microsoft Word!

But wait a second I said, I am not using Microsoft Word for anything...

Ahh, but wait, Scott is giving me a clue! Microsoft Word... hmmm...

Microsoft Excel! That's it! When I import/export the properties it is doing so with .xls files... the problem must be with Excel!

I (because I am tired of giving Mr. Gates all my money) am still using Office 2000...

Ok, stop laughing at me - I just upgraded to 2002...

and guess what... it works now!

Thanks Scott!

It's what I do. :)

(Glad you figured it out and that I didn't have to duck again)

Does Office 2002 work on a 386 processor?

Does Office 2002 work on a 386 processor?
Only if you upgrade it to 16MB of EDO RAM modules. ;)

Buzz, I went through all your steps and I have no error. Before I installed MEP 2010 I reformatted, did a fresh install of Vista x64 bit with no other version of AutoCAD MEP installed (I did this for two reasons: upgraded my OS and MEP 2009 got a nasty bug and was giving me problems at the time). I don't know if this helps you at all to know this but just thought I'd throw it out there.
