I have been testing Ecotect to conduct some solar analysis on master planning proposals grated in Revit with masses. I have tried both applying the analysis grid to a 3D surface which works ok until there are two grid surfaces that overlap each other in a view not physically or until the grid surface wraps around a corner. The surface subdivision technique work for getting grids applied to overlapping grids or grids that wrap abound a corner. When using subdivided grids the performance of the analysis suffers to the point that it cannot be used with any efficiency. Is there any ay to either improve the performance when using surface subdivisions or getting the grids to wrap around objects or be used on objects that overlap? Of course I can apply grids to individual objects and run multiple analysis, but this is not an efficient way to work either.
