Depends.
Are you trying to hatch elements that you have modelled, or are you applying a hatch as part of a detail (say hatching a sand bed area under your slab?)

If you are wanting to see hatching of modelled elements, these *should* be automatic. if they are not, then you will need to adjust your "Visibility Graphics" to suit. Type VG - and select your element (if its a wall - go to "walls") and here you can set hatches, linestyles etc depending on if the item is being cut by the section, or is beyond.

Otherwise for the hatched region for example bedding sand hatch - simply use a "filled region" which you will find under "annotate" tab in Revit 2010. Set your hatch style under "region properties" once you begin the hatch region.
