ok, i've been digging for a while and i have come to the conclusion that the shoulder property (inside and outside) only apply when your assemblies contain a shoulder. if you have a normal closed section it is safe to ignore the values.
am i correct in this assumption?:?

There are a variety of subassemblies that can use the Shoulder slope. But if you have nothing using the Shoulder slope, then yes, you can ignore the values.
