I received an email from fellow member asking if I thought it was a good idea to create a new forum to focus on the just massing/conceptual design discussions. I was also asked if I could get feedback from the rest of our members. I've created a poll, so please vote your mind.

There's so much in these new tools to discover. We need a new forum to cover it for sure!

Excellent! Glad to see a new Forum for this.
Now we have to get some clients who are willing to pay for the wild designs we can
do with Revit Conceptual Massing.
cheers

I think the avenues for this tool without having some crazy landmark building are far reaching.
We use the conceptual tool quite alot in everyday work, and the adaptive components tool will make life much easier for some our connection and PT systems.

Clients are not coming to you for wild designs. You are not going to a Buick dealer either to buy an Aston Martin. You have to offer the client a contemporary design or participate in competitions. Admittedly, in the US It might be a little more difficult. The USA pavilion at the Expo 2010 is a prime example of that.

With the adaptive components give me a month :)
As for conceptual panelling, we have used this for brick, clock coursing layouts in side walls, scaffolds built around an envelope. steel framing options, precast options typical across structure areas.
You can embed families into panel families, so some internal formal room function areas, parametric typical bathrooms, kitchens and tiling systems.
Also suspended hanging ceilings, roof tiling and a few other area's that allow a much greater degree in accuracy for take offs and sequencing as well as correct placement of windows, doors etc.
The new intersect option opens up alot of previously very hard things requiring lots of instances of masses, this should narrow it down to a few per floor.

Great idea.
It's quite new material for us.
