Here's what I'm trying to do. I want to extract a point file from my surface. Can this be done? I need to give someone an .xyz text file of my surface.

Is there a plug-in that will accomplish this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, change the style so it displays points, extract the points from the surface which will create autocad points, convert the autocad points to c3d points, export the points to a file.

No plug in required. Here are the steps;

1. In your surface style make the points visible. Make everything else not visible.
2. Go to Surfaces Pull Down Surfaces>Utilities>Extract objects from surface (points only). You will now have Autocad Points.
3. Convert the Autocad points to AECC_COGO_POINTS via the Points>Utilities>Convert from Autocad Points.
4. Go to _All Points Point group right mouse click and export the points to a PNEZD file.

Hope that Helps!

I've seen this question pop up a couple of times so I decided to write it up on my blog: http://civil3dplus.wordpress.com/2010/01/05/extracting-points-from-a-surface/

And if you really want a plug in I wrote this post a while back: http://blog.civil3dreminders.com/2008/12/how-to-create-civil-3d-points-for-each.html
