View Full Version : Run ACA as AutoCAD

We are a mixed office for the moment, running ACA 2009 to finish up some projects, and Revit for all new work. The Revit teams still need AutoCAD on occasion, and currently we are using a full ACA install and profile for that purpose. But I would much rather set up the Revit users with a "Raw AutoCAD" version of ACA. Once upon a time there was a profile pre-installed for this purpose, but that seems no longer to be the case. So I am wondering what I would need to do in the profile, shortcut and probably template to get a setup that launches ACA with no actual ACA menus or content or the like.
Thanks!

If you have the shorcut for Architecture, make a copy of that and in the properties, change this; "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Architecture 2010\acad.exe" /ld "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Architecture 2010\AecBase.dbx" /p "AutoCAD Architecture (US Imperial)"
to this "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Architecture 2010\acad.exe" /ld "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Architecture 2010\AecBase.dbx" /p "AutoCAD"
You still will see the Architecture flash screen however the core AutoCAD will just be loaded. Then save a default profile.
FYI- this is an example for version 2010, it should be the same for older versions.

Delete the /ld "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Architecture 2010\AecBase.dbx" from the "As AutoCAD" shortcut target string as well. You do not want to load any Aec modules when running "As AutoCAD".
You can also specify any profile name that is not an AutoCAD Architecture profile name. If the name used does not exist, a new profile will be created with that name, using the default parameters, which happen to be "as AutoCAD".
