Hello,
I am looking for a way to plot plt files half size. The files come from the architect full size. I am using Apprentice 4.30 to view the plt files. It seems the only way to plot them is to right click on them and send them full size. This can waste a lot of paper. Does anyone know of a better way to plot them half size or batch plot them.
Thanks

We use a program called "Repro Desk" you are able to change the paper sizes and such...

Sounds like you will need more than a viewer to modify the sizes.

I thought Repro Desk and Apprentice were the same program? Just had some name changing over time. You might have the capability and just haven't located it yet. That said, we use Apprentice, also, for sent plts to our reprographics company, but I haven't had much luck plotting from it directly.
To print smaller sizes, we have used ViewCompanion, a relatively inexpensive product from Software Companions that allows this, as well as conversion to pdf.

Check out View Companion. It is a powerful viewer for HPGL/HPGL-2 files running under Windows 95,98,2000 and NT 4.0.

It provides fast, accurate viewing of these files that can be generated by Your CAD program, or a plotter driver.

View Companion has advanced functions for zooming and panning, and does also supports Microsoft's new IntelliMouse for performing these tasks.

All Windows based plotters and printers are supported.

View Companion can also save the loaded file into other standard formats.

You will also find updated information about this program on the web site:

Ask them to send you DWF files instead (assuming they have AutoCAD).

I am using Print Exec Lt. It works pretty well on PLT files, but I really like what it does with TIFF files. I just specify the size and plotter and drag and drop the file into the program. PLT files take a few more steps.
