Does anyone know how I can migrate my layer key standards from ACA 2009 to ACA 2010? I insert my Design Content, but nothing comes in on the correct layer. WHY WHY WHY would Autodesk not have a layer key migration tool?????

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the ACA/AMEP Tips and Tricks forum to this one as I feel it will be better served in this location.

You should be able to access your layer key information from the Style Manager. Layer Key Styles are located under Multi-Purpose Objects in Style Manager.

You may want to add the correct Layer Key Style to your 2010 template file so that it comes in whenever you start a new drawing.

If you need help setting this up post back and we'll step you through the process.

Hope this helps,

Thank you so much for your response. If you could, walk me through this as the 2010 version is a little different the the 2009 and I don't know how to set either of them up.

Thanks!

Jay

Hi Jay.

I'm not at work right now so I'm doing this by memory so hopefully I don't miss any steps.

Open your template file in ACA 2010.
On the Manage tab pick the Style Manager.
Click file open and open a drawing you know is using your layer keys.
In the drawing you just opened click on the Multi-Purpose Objects and then the Layer Key Styles.
Click on your layer key style and then right-click and choose copy
Now click on Multi-Purpose Objects - Layer Key Styles in the template file
Click on the Layer Key Style and then right-click and chose paste. (Alternatively you can drag and drop from one location to the other)
Get out of Layer Manager and save your template file.
Your Layer Key should now be available when you start a new drawing using this template.Good luck, have fun and post back if you need more help,

Also
If you go into drawing setup and to the Layering tab
at the bottom is a "Save as default" tick box
It's a bit vague but ticking this sets a registry key that makes your layer key your standard.
Do it once and it's set once you hit apply.
Yes it's a bit weird.
