Greetings All!

I have tried searching through previous posts, but to no avail. I have a drawing that has a xref that is drawn to scale and I am attempting to dimension the geometry in PS. the viewport is set at 1/4" = 1'-0". My problem is that the dimension is not picking up the actual building dimension, but the PS dimension. I should also point out that we just made the switch from '09 to 2010. I have enclosed a copy of the drawing. I would appriciate any help.

Thanks!

We need the xref file too.

I feel like such a dork! Let's try this again. I hope!

Don't know if this would be helpful or not, but I started a new drawing and tried the dimension style before inserting the x-ref and they worked as they should. So would it be something in the settings for the x-ref itself?

I had great problems with the text which was solved by turning off the Bigfont. ~shrug~

For the problem you describe - set measurement scale factor (dimlfac) to 48 though your viewport custom scale is 1/32 :?:

John B.

Thank you for your time and input. I do have some more questions though about your solution. By changing the measurement scale factor from 1 to 48 would I not be opening the door to having to create more dimension styles to match their respective viewports that would have a different scale than 1/4" = 1'-0"? I also would rather not have to change that scale factor since all the way up till now I have not had too and the dimensions have scaled appropriately.

This problem is very strange. if you were to draw a line in MS in that same drawing and dimension it in PS it would read correctly, but for some reason it messes up when you try to dimension the x-refed line work. We then went back to the base drawing and first dimensioned the wall in MS. The result was correct. We then created a viewport and attempted to dimension in PS, the result was not correct, but if you were to again draw some other geometry nearby and dimension it in PS it would be correct. We cannot seem to narrow down the cause.

But again thank you for your time and input. we will stay on this.

Cheers!

Another Update!

We have narrowed it down to AEC objects. For some reason if the object is a wall or any other type of AEC object it dimensions incorrectly in PS. I will be searching the ACA forums to see if this problem hass come up before.

Yes, but it shouldn't be necessary. DIMLFAC would normally be set to -1 and you would get the result you expect.
