I'm trying to combine two surfaces, one is an excavation grade, the other a finished grade. The finished grade cuts into the excavation grade and I need to create a surface that shows the deepest cuts. So, ideally CAD would look at both surfaces and and for every XY use the lowest Z to make it.

I think the attached .jpg illustrates what I'm looking to do.

It really seems like this should be possible. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Just rambling and thinking....

You could create a volume surface and use the ZERO elevation contour to create a boundary...

Then use that boundary on both surfaces and then combine those two new surfaces.

When you create your finish grade surface you have to create it as a volume surface and then it will ask you which surface you want to combine it with. You tell it the excavation or rough grade surface and then it work. Then you setup your style to show you the cuts and fills....blah blah.
