WMS service - FDO CONNECT

I am having a problem connecting to a WMS service using AutoCAD Map 3D 2010 that I can connect to using ArcMap 9.3.
I get the following log message :

Failed to connect.
Failed to open FDO connection.
The HTTP request was denied (forbidden) by the server.


Is my company's proxy server not allowing the wms connection? What should I do?
I can connect from my home PC.

If you have any suggestions please help me

I would say yes it's your proxy server. I would look and set what ports may be blocked on the server, I don't know off hand what port(s) is used for WMF coonections.

I am still cutting my teeth with Map and have a similar problem. My GIS guy showed me a server that contains all of the orthographic imagery that I would need for this project. The typical procedure is to download the SIDs and import them to the drawing by either Map<Import or through the task pane. I want to try and connect direclty to the server itself. I try to use the WMS connection and I get:

"Failed to connect"
Failed to open FDO connection.

The server I am trying to connect to is: http://imsortho.cr.usgs.gov/WMS_Capabilities/USGS_EDC_Ortho_Maryland/capabilities_1_1_1.xml?REQUEST=capabilities&SERVICE=WMS

The webite I am getting this from is: http://seamless.usgs.gov/service_access_list.php?serviceid=Dataset_7&dataset=HRO

I am trying to connect to the MAryland information.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Worked ok for me on you link to the WMS server. MAP3D 2010 version and using 1.3.0 version of WMS. The easy way is from the Seemless site you have is right click on the Get Link, and select copy shortcut, then in the MAP 3D WMS connection paste it into the server name/url text box.

I just tried it again using the instructions above and it gave me the same error. Do you think that it might be my internet connection here at work? Potentially a firewall issue?

I am using Civil 3D 2010 with Map.

It could be your firewall/internet. I tried in Civil3D 2010 and it still worked OK
