View Full Version : Revit to Navisworks - Workset Names Not Coming Through

Hello,

I just fired up Navisworks Manage 2011 for the first time and loaded in an .nwc I exported from Revit 2009. Our Revit model is fairly well organized as far as assigning objects to worksets, so I thought I would start setting up some selection/search sets based on those worksets (furniture, exterior walls, etc). But for some reason when I look at the properties of an object, its workset value is a number, not a name. (Furthermore, I just clicked on a door and found that there were different Workset values under the Element, Level and Revit Type tabs.) So... is there a way to see (and more importantly use) the worksets we have configured in Revit?

Thanks in advance...

Ian

Worksets are not currently supported in the NWC export process. I've asked and the response I get is to look for this in a future release.....

Create a parameter called work sets then select each work set and set the parameter name. Not ideal but it works quite well for search and selection sets.

I thinks it's because work sets aren't exactly straight forward since there are standards and views etc...

The workset number you're seeing in the element tab does correspond with the correct workset, you just have to figure out the correlation. Select an object you know the workset of, look in properties under Element > Workset. The number here is your workset, so for example I have a workset called Site, the number associated to that workset is 598, now I just create a search set based on that criteria and name it site.

The workset you see under Revit Type is the workset that family type belongs to. The workset under the level tab is a bit of a mystery, I only have one in a 3 story project...in other words just ignore it :)

Sounds like a great suggestion, but maybe I'm missing something obvious. I assume you mean, in Revit, to create a new shared parameter named "Work Set" or something similar. But how do you "select each work set and set the parameter name"?

Thanks

if you do decide to go that way, make sure it's a project parameter and not a shared one as it is not going to come across...
why do you want the worksets to come through? is it for the purpose of creating search sets? I would look at different ways to create search sets, ones that you can export and import to your new navisworks project (family type, name, keynotes...)
