I would like to see an object move during an animation. Can anyone explain the basics, step by step, of animating/scripting this? I want to start with simply transforming an object in the Z direction at a point in time during my animation.

I am using Navis 2011 now. I have read through the scriptor section of the Autodesk Essentials 2009 book and searched these forums, but I still haven't figured it out. In my first attempt, I made a scene in Animator with a keyframe showing the object in the start position and a keyframe with the object in the end position, interpolate on. Then a script for "play animation" "on timer" but nothing happens. I know I must be missing some steps, or just going about it all wrong. Can anyone please explain how to do this?

Thank you!

Update: I was adding "cameras" in Animator and capturing keyframes of the objects in different locations. I did not know to create an "animation set." Now that I captured those keyframes in an animation set, it works and the object moves as Navis interpolates between the keyframes.

Now I suppose I need to keep creating individual animation set scenes for anything I want to move/rotate/etc. and different camera scenes for the various walk throughs or fly overs I want to see, then define the order and timing of the animations in Scripter? Can I have different animation sets playing while the camera is moving around the model at the same time?

Is there any chance you could develop a video of animating an object?

I have been trying this today after watching a Autodesk NavisWork Resouces video, but sometimes I get it to work, but sometimes not.

Step-by-step sequence I am following is:-

1. select the object to move;
2. add scene in the animator window;
3. create an animation set from the current selection;
4. capture the keyframe;
5. shift the time bar to the time duration, say 2 secs;
6. move the object or use transform, by a set distance;
7. capture the keyframe on the object in the final position;

then use the play button to watch the animationed object.

Anything I am missing? there is something in steps 5, 6, 7 above that just is not right i think.

Sorry, am new to this application. Thanks in advance for any top tips!
