Hi there...

I've heard a rumour that AEC will stop developing AutoCAD Architecture (et al) in the next three years and instead concentrate on developing the Revit suite.

Is there any truth in this rumour?

If so, what are the implications industry wide? Personally speaking, it would mean some new training and cultures to adopt, but are there any other issues one should be aware of?

If the rumour is true, I guess it'll be worthwhile to jump onto Revit now!

Thanks...

rumors are rumors, I think that one has been around now for at least 3 years, I think I remember someone running that one as an April Fools Joke. I'm not saying whether or not it is accurate, as I dont know.

Anyone who knows cannot say and anyone who professes to know is either violating the NDA or just guessing. Autodesk does not (typically) discuss future plans. Long story short, you will find out when everyone else does.

The ArchiCAD folk used to sell their product by saying that AutoCAD Architecture was going away....and that was like 8 years ago when I went to their presentation (Think it was for Archicad 7..)

Its still around, even though there is Revit....I know some firms that are still using it.
