View Full Version : Viewpoints exported from Clash Detective lose section planes

I have a 10 floor hospital that uses a full (as opposed to one floor at a time) building model each for the steel, shell, and interior build out.

I use sectioning planes to trim the model to the floor that I'm working on. Trade drawings are not an issue as they are modeled to elevation and are per floor only.

So I run clash, group the clashes, redline everything, and then write the report to viewpoints as all tests separately. When I open the saved viewpoints window and review my clashes the sectioning planes are turned off and the entire model is blocking the view of the clash (because you are looking from above the floor line).

If I go back to Clash detective and review the clashes there the sectioning planes are on.

Are the sectioning planes supposed to export with the viewpoint?

Know any workaround?

I don't know if I do it "right" or not, but I use tools like model slicer to get only the floors I want and have a separate file per floor, even if the original file is for the hole building. So for example I get an architectural model from the designer, and a whole-building steel model from the steel sub, I slice them by floor and save each floor individually before bringing the floors into Navisworks one at a time.

I received an answer back from Autodesk that should fix this.

Which doesn't work!!

I'll update when I have more results.

--------------------------------------------------------
This is likely to be due to a setting named Hide/Required in the viewpoint. With this setting on, the viewpoint respects Section Planes, Color Overrides, Transparency Overrides etc.
To switch this off in an individual viewpoint, right click it and go to Edit. To change this for all future viewpoints, you need to change this in the Options (Tools > Global Options in 2010) > Interface > Viewpoint Defaults. Unfortunately there isn't a way to mass change this for existing viewpoints.
