Hello,
I am very new to the AutoDesk scene, so the question I am about to ask may infuriate some of you to the core. But please help me out. :)
I have been tasked with rendering images of a project and exporting them, preferably in eye catching formats, such as the cartoon and watercolour render tools I spied.
However, with me being new to computer fidgeting as well I am having a problem with memory allocation. The memory being left on auto provided no problems prior to me trying to render these images, however whatever I now seem to do does absolutely nothing to the end result which is being told I do not have enough memory, no matter how much I throw its way.
Any quick fixes? (I presume there are as this seems like a very basic mistake on my behalf.)

Thanks very much in advance. :D

P.S. I did have a quick scan of the first few pages to look for this problem but couldn't find any relevant. If I missed one however, please point me in that direction instead of explaining it all again.

Benjamin,

It would help to tell us what program it is you're working with. You are in a NavisWorks Support forum and I kind of doubt you'll find the answer you need here.

Being new to the Autodesk scene and trying to do rendering is kind of like learning to fly an airplane before you can drive.. Scares the heck out of the passengers too.

Basically, you need to know what software you're using (i.e. Autocad, Revit, Civil 3d) and then find a forum (out of the hundreds of forums on here) and try asking your question there.

From my experience, there's not going to be an easy or quick answer. Rendering is an art form and it takes a long time to learn if you want any kind of realism in the view.

Thanks very much for the reply, I have decided to deal with screen grabs at the moment for the viewing.
I will have a good long sit down and try get to grab with the whole scene of autodesk, and hopefully soon be able to answer some of your questions about it. :D
Yet again, thanks.

Plus, rendering is very computer intensive for anything but the simplist models. I wouldn't recommend anything less than Win7 64bit (32 bit XP or Win7 just won't cut it) with as much RAM as the motherboard can handle.

I am on 32 bit Windows 7 at the moment, but I am definitely not overflowing with RAM. It is definitely my next upgrade point. :)

I have 16gb in a monster cadd laptop and I maxed it out the other day with 3 sessions of Navisworks and about 6 excel spreadsheets..

I'm not even going to humiliate myself by revealing my specs ^^

Unless you currently have less than 4 GB RAM, there isn't much point in getting more without a 64 bit operating system.
