Hello,
I am trying to switch to AutoCAD Classic from Autocad Mechanical 2012.
The 'workspace' drop down menu does not list Autocad Classic as an option?
Any suggestions ?
Thank you
Montreal

Don't start Mechanical at all. Go to your Start menu and browse into All Applications-->Autodesk-->AutoCAD Mechanical 20xx-->then start the normal AutoCAD from there.

You really should look at Mechanical more closely though, it is far superior to vanilla AutoCAD for Mechanical design.

Thank you - found it.
I toggle between Mechanical and Classic - I still find some functions like creating dimension styles easier in AutoCAD Classic ... or maybe I just need to learn Mechanical a bit better.
Cheers!

I pinned the 2 shortcuts to the taskbar from the Start Menu, for Vanilla & Mechanical 2015 profiles. I also hacked the registry to tweak the right-click menu options in Explorer: Default (dbl-click) is Model, for Mech; Edit is on the menu too, for Acad. Open removed & Open with... cleared. 1st time after reboot there is an error message about dwg files not being associated; clicked never mind; no problems. Now I 'just' need to figure out a sensible workflow in Mechanical: 3D to 2D; vicey versey; either/or?
