Probelm Opening ifc File

I'm trying to open an 74MB ifc file exported from archicad v14, but all I get is blank screen and no error reports.

The ifc file opens fine in costx, so I know there's no problems with the file itself.

In the selection tree I get the ifc file name and one element with the group symbol and name "Project", however I'm pretty sure no objects are being brought in from the ifc. I've tried the usual tricks to search for elements and publishing a nwd results in a tiny tiny file.

I've also tried
1. appending the file to another basic nwf rather than just opening the ifc
2. modifying the file reader parameters, but no luck.

I'm using Navis Simulate 2012 x 64bit.

Hopefully I've made a dumb mistake and some can give me a really useful suggestion?

I have had some luck opening troublesome IFC files in Revit. Once opened in Revit an NWC file can be exported for use in Navis.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.
In the mean time the architect has provided a new ifc with apparently the same specs and that opens fine in Navis.
