Hey All,

Is there a way to convert spot elevations to tags? Are there any tutorials or guides available. I have reviewed the online manuals and google in general and have found nothing. In the Civil3D 2010 manual (large online manual (http://docs.autodesk.com/CIVIL/2010/ENU/AutoCAD%20Civil%202010%20User%20Documentation/index.html?url=WS27101fef35e777f91d520c4fc0f49936f-8000.htm,topicNumber=d0e303613)) it discusses converting labels to tags but is vague on how to acheive that or how tagging works.

Any direction on where to research my problem would be helpful and appreciated.

Really no one knows how to do this? Can someone confirm that Civil 3D can do this?

DK,

Sorry I didn't see this post, originally or even after the bump.

What are you attempting to do with the points that you want them to be tags?

If you are wanting to make a table, I do not think it is required to 'convert' the points to tags in order to have them in a table.

A quick check inside C3D suggests TAGGING is 'only' a property of lines and curves that is typically reserved for use when the line or curve data would be too cluttered to display in any other format other than within a table.

If all you need is a POINT NUMBER to display (TAG); then this suggest the use of a Point Label style that only displays the point number (TAG), then you would want to use a point table to display the rest of the point information on the drawing such as the coordinates, elevation, and or description data.

For more explicit help perhaps provide a sample of what this tag should look like graphically and how you plan to use the tag information. Perhaps my answer is wrong for your needs.

Although the short answer is NO points can not display the same label TAG properties as lines and curves.

Thanks you for the response.

So basically i would like to generate a curb return elevation table. I thought could create points on a surface (proposed curb) and have them databased in C3D using a taging function. Then create a dynamic table for my design sheet display.

I guess points can't be tagged.

Thank you again MJ.

Tagging the points and getting them in a databasse wold be double the effort required.
They will already have a point number.
Just give them a unique description, place them in their own point group based on that description.
This then makes it easier to add them to a table. Not to worry the table will be dynamic.

Hey MJ,

I found that out after the fact (yesterday). Kind of feel foolish.

Thank you for your help.
