Hi Guys,

I'm Douglas from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

I'm with some doubts about revit structure 2012 that i'm using.

A- Here in Brazil we name our beams in project by levels. So we repeat the sequence every floor.

For example:

In first floor you put: Beam 1, Beam 2, Beam 3...

Then you go to second floor: Beam 1, Beam 2, Beam 3... (repeat the numerical sequence).

In Revit it takes some problem because each beam represents a family with its own identity. I don't wanna go every beam family and rename each one with the software giving me a popup alert that i'm repeating the name of a beam that is located some levels below.

Someone knows a better way to rename beams?

Douglas,
I'm not sure you are understanding how Revit family types work.
Each beam family can have many types. Beam 1 can be the same 'type' on the first floor and the second floor and many other floors. You do not need to create a new type each time.
Each beam can have a separate identity by using the 'Mark' parameter
