Export to Revit

I've had some trouble importing surfaces into Revit and getting them to come in correctly. There are usually 'spikes' in areas up against retaining walls and the like. Does anyone have any experience setting up the civil file to come into revit smoothly? Thanks.

What format are you exporting your surface to?
Are you uisng only the contours (as 3d polylines)?

Also, are you sure that those spikes are not in the original C3D file prior to the export operation?
My guess is that you are, I'm just asking.
