View Full Version : AutoCAD duplicating mapped network drive?

Hello, I have an issue that I just can't figure out. I don't know if it is a AutoCAD - Windows 7 issue or something completely unrelated. All of my drawing files, including my setup files are all located on a network drive letter that I have mapped as "Z". This is not a scripted mapped drive. For some reason, myself and my co-worker have a problem where this drive is duplicating itself and assigning itself a new drive letter until they are all used. So to clarify, I will have 5 or so "cad" drives with multiple drive letters assigned. It seams to happen when I open an older drawing file that was not created in the version that I am running. If I do not have AutoCAD running, or open an older drawing file, the self duplicating does not occur. It does not appear to be version related, for I am running AutoCAD Architectecture 2013 and my co-worker 2012. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas. This does not appear to be creating issues, other than the annoyance. Thanks for any help.

This is an old post, but some of our staff are having the same problem in LT 2014. Was a solution found?

Unlikely since this it's pretty old, but you might look at this anyway: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/2633ec25-3812-4c58-a8e3-ad7a1bb63f08/windows-mapping-same-share-to-all-open-drive-letters?forum=itproxpsp

Another OLD, unanswered post that doesn't really help: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2000-2000i-2002-DWG/Duplicate-Mapped-Drives/td-p/173943

I seem to recall this problem from long ago, but unfortunately can't offer a solution either...

rkmcswain, thanks for replying. Unfortunately, we're still on the hunt for a solution.
