Does anyone know of a free or low priced image editor that would allow fine rotation and possibly brightness, contrast etc. We have had the major portion of our maps scanned and our archive person needs to QC them. We just don't need anything as complicated as Raster Design or a full blown graphics program. The files are jpegs that are 2 to 10mg each. I tried IRFANVIEW and it won't open them. Thanks.

Hi

theGIMP (http://www.gimp.org/index.html) <- As recommended by Glenn Pope.

Paint.NET (http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/) <- Haven't tried this one yet, so can't say if it actually does what you are after.

Have a good one, Mike

AutoCAD (alone) lets you rotate images and adjust the contrast and brightness ...

But the settings are saved within the AutoCAD (DWG) file ... that image is "referenced" into.

Not sure is you have this but "MicroSoft Photo Editor" usually comes free with MicroSoft Office. And it allows you to roate images by whole degrees. No decimals. Sorry.

Maybe someone else might have a better suggestion.

Good luck.

Several programs, including Paintshop Pro can do this.

Take a look at this site.. it will allow you to try several of them. (I highly recommend paintshop pro. It's a little complicated, but easy to use and packed with features.)

I use microsoft photo editor most of the time, quick and easy, but, I had to tell IT to install it (as well as access), since their ghost machine just had word and excel in it from the office suite...

Also, not that it helps with rebalancing, but, in windows explorer on windows XP, you can just right-click an image and have it rotate without having to open up a program...
