View Full Version : The mystery case of the Function Keys

Hi all,

I have a user who has managed to do something that I've yet to see in my 15 years of working with AutoCAD.

She'll end up with a configuration that causes her function keys to act irrationally. For example, if she hits F9, it will first toggle through two states of the last function key she used; so in order to enable snap with F9, hitting it the first two times will toggle through Ortho twice, and *then* start toggling the Snap. Then, if she hits F7 to toggle the grid, it will toggle through Snap twice before starting on Grid with the third hit. I've never seen this before, and she is the only user in the group that manages to do this.

She doesn't know how she does it (average user), and the only way I've been able to fix it thus far is by loading a clean Acad profile for her.

Anyone else seen or heard of this?

Hi

Does the user play with any of the Customize Tools under the Tools pull down menu?

Have a good one, Mike

AFA I can tell, she hasn't been messing with them. I don't think she's even aware of the customization capability.

Is she using an unusual keyboard? For example the Logitech cordless types have a so-called "F-Lock" button which assigns other, programmable uses to the function keys.

Nope, using a standard keyboard and MS Intellimouse Explorer. I've got 14 other stations just like it without any problems...
