ABS 2004 Duct connection fail

I have had multiple occurrences where I am laying out my duct and out of the blue is no longer letting me connect to a system or begin a new run in any system. I am not sure if it has anything to do with virtual mem or just the user/s. If I copy everything into a fresh template it seems to work OK for a while.

More details, please? But, first thoughts are:
What does the command prompt area tell you when this is happening?
Elevation settings?
Fitting?
Does not a message box pop-up tell you something? If so What does it say?
What mean out of blue? You drew some duct and was fine then later you try to draw more but you cannot draw any duct at all?

When connecting to a duct, the connection fails without a message box. acts like you never selected the duct at all. I have not had this since the new release. It may also be linked to the AutoCAD purge.
