Field in Title Block not updating

In out title blocks we use to have the copyright year as RTEXT with a diesel expression to only display the current year, and when a new year came the RTEXT would automatically update to the new current year. I tried to do this with a FIELD for the current date, but had it only display the year.

So, when we were in 2004 when I updated the title blocks with the field it displayed 2004 when inserted into a new drawing. But, when 2005 rolled around and the title blocks are inserted into new drawings the date field in the title block does not update, unless you refedit the block and "Update" the field. Is there a way to fix this or should I go back to RTEXT?

Was the field used in an attribute or mtext. If its in a mtext entity and is part of the block, then it won't update.

It was in plain DTEXT. It is different from our date attribute as it shout always display the current year. It says "Copyright 2004 Aerotech." where I made the 2004 a field to display the current year.
