When converting a LDD 2005 drawing containing AECC points to LDD 2000i, the points are changed into block references. These points need to remain points to be used to create surfaces, etc. Currently I use the 'export to 2000' command, yet the points are still converted to block references. If there is another method to retain the aec point values it would surely save time.

I may seem a question of why don't you just export the points into a text file and then with the points pulldown menu remove points from dwg... this won't remove them from the project, just the dwg. Then export your dwg into the 2000i format and import the text file...
I would hope though that you have a separate project file for your 2000i format dwg to reside in. Just a thought.

I am aware of this procedure, my question was based on avoiding this process. Certain member of my firm may not be as comfortable with the many different processes available to achieve my request.
Thank you for your response but I am looking for an autoconvert type of solution that would be easily carried out.

Unfortunately, there is no Object Enabler from 05 back to 2i. From the ADESK OE Web Page
Drawings must be saved in 2000 format using the Export to AutoCAD command before being transferred to the recipient. It is important to note that this process converts Autodesk Land Desktop objects into AutoCAD primitive entities such as lines, arcs and 3D faces.
So that means the approach above is THE way to go unless you want to convert the AutoCAD point blocks to AEC Point Objects when he opens the file. Under Points- Point Utilities-Convert from AutoCAD points. If the points were inserted at actual elevation, it does help. I have not had much luck with this approach though.
