Instructor: Aryn Bergman with Dana Troy

Class Description: There’s been a lot of buzz recently about the concept of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and how this type of collaborative process can influence the design of sustainable buildings. Before IPD can truly make a difference in the energy consumption of our building designs, the design community needs to develop ways to effectively use the wave of new tools that were not previously available or not economically viable in the traditional design process. Glumac's Dana Troy and Aryn Bergman will discuss the use of various software applications and services that have been used early in the IPD process to analyze the shape, orientation, and envelope construction on the energy performance of a design. They will focus on their experiences with energy, CFD, and daylighting modeling and exchanging information with the design team through BIM. Some of the software applications that will be discussed include Autodesk® Revit®, CFdesign®, Ecotect®, eQuest, and the Green Building Studio® service.
