Hi,

I would like to see maybe a course on how to make custom menus & toolbars.
I have made some generic menus & toolbars in the past by trial and error. I would like some instruction on the proper way and more efficient structure of the menu file.

I'm sure there are some DOs & DON'Ts that would be nice to learn.

Also a method where I do not loose them and have to re-create them if I re-load AutoCAD due to crashes or system failure. Which one of these files should I back up on CD: .mnc, .mnr, .mnr, .mns? Or do I need to back them all up? Are there any other files I should back up for custom menus & toolbars?

If someone could point me to some good tutorials on the web on this subject I would be thankful.

Thanks
Gary

The files that you would need on CD would be the MNU, MNS, MNL and any BMP or DLL files that you use for your icons as well as any Lisp routines that your menues call. The MNR and MNC files are created (and recreated) when you load the MNS file. Check out the info on the Afralisp website. Also, you can download the Migration assistant from Autodesk to help port over your menus. Go to http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=4091668&linkID=2475161

There was a course - ATP043 - that covered this. I have the 2nd and 3rd segments, but the first one is corrupted. I can scan it in and send that one to you as well, but I am actually hoping someone has it and can post it here so I have a copy of it as well.

Also, check out this website (http://www.afralisp.com/tutor.htm) - there is some very useful information here

Hello to All,

Thanks for the replies.

I did register for the ATP43 class but my PC crashed and I lost the .PDF files. Now that I finally have the time to figure menus out. Being busy can be great but also a burden.

Thanks for the PDF files and the links

Gary

Hi

Might want to take a look at the July 2005 offering "Grasping AutoCAD 2006 Menu Mayhem"- Current ATP Courses (http://www.augi.com/education/schedule.asp?page=292).
