I am about to begin a project using AutoCAD Civil 3d 2015.
I am receiving civil 3d drawings from a consultant that is using Civil 3d 2016.
In the profiles that the consultant created all of the callouts for utility crossings do not come across.
All I get is a box with an AECC message.

I have been told that I either need the correct object enabler or a 2016 upgrade.

Is there another way?

Thanks

Welcome to AUGI.

This is something that should be established in the initial contract, as to which version of Civil 3D shall be used. This would allow for everyone involved to work on the same version, and mitigate situations like this.

That said, you're here now - the simplest way for you to obtain their data is for you to upgrade. Next would be either of the bitter pills of asking them to provide you LandXML, which inherently loses all layer, style, and label assignments, or for them to EXPORTTOAUTOCAD, which inherently loses all dynamic functionality.

If you're on subscription, urge your CAD/IT admin to download and install 2016 ASAP, as you can bring your setup forward during initial install / first run (mostly, some fine tuning thereafter, as always), but you'd be up and running, and able to use the files you've been provided with the least effort required for everyone.

Cheers
