Can anyone tell me how I can lock a bearing and distance line label so when I rotate the line the bearing stays the same.
Using 2016 civil 3d

Thanks
Bryan

Hi
The line label was design to automatically update as the line is moved.
you have two options in the dialog when you select line labels pick label between the two line ends, second explode the label, beware if you have masking set in the label style and you explode twice the label becomes mtext the masking turns to a solid you can't see but will show when plotting.
Civil3d doesn't work like LDD or is as user friendly.

What are you trying to solve with this?
IOW - why would you ever want the bearing to read incorrectly?

If you are rotating the line to fit on a sheet try rotating the view in your viewport using the DVIEW or PLAN command.

After you label the lines create a block of the line work and labels. Then rotate. The Bearing angles will hold until you explode the block and then update to the rotation.

Sometimes I do this, if I need to reference both a deed base and SPC for a parcel. But most of the time I will hold the SPC and label the deed base references separately using MTEXT.

When you have a deed bearing and you need to rotate your boundary to SPC.

You might be able to create an expression that will adjust the direction of the line back to deed. I have not tried this so I am not sure if it will work.

Once that is created, you just need to make a new label style using the new expression.

Making a block of the labels will stop them from updating however it will make a copy of linework that supports the labels within the block even though you only selected the labels. If the linework was a parcel it will copy the parcel and the site.

It might be useful if one was fitting various deed plottings together and wanted to maintain the original values from the deeds even though they were rotated from their original state.
