Video Drivers?

I've been using Viz for quite a while now, but I still have a question on what the best setting for the initial video driver setting should be. Typically I've always gone with hardware but is direct 3d or open GL better? Does anyone know the advantages / disadvantages?

My opinion is that GL is better for hardware acceleration. Haven't really seen any articles on this other than the help file for VIZ recommending to use GL if supported by your system.
