Hi I'm a civil engineer creating a template to a survey data collector team.

They have never used Survey Database in Civil 3D to import data into Civil 3D. So they can't explain me some issues about working with survey database.

When we want to import a survey data we specify a network. Then we can choose control points, non-control points and setups.
Do I need to choose it manually, right?
But what is the purpose?
Will it be usefull for what?

Thank you

Having a database established allows you to store multiple settings based on different types of setups, equipment, description keys, etc.

The biggest thing along with having a database established is the use of line coding and generating line work when importing in the point files.

Your first step, to make the job go easier, is find a Surveyor to lead the crew.
