View Full Version : changing vertical scale of contours

We received a drawing from a client that has contours in 3 dimensions. The majority of them are at their true elevations, but two sections are not. One of the two sections is simply at the wrong elevation, but I know I can figure out how to move the contours to the correct elevation. The other erroneous section, however, appears to have an exaggerated vertical scale. The major contours are labeled as being at 2.5 meter intervals, and they are actually approximately 127 meters apart (in the z-axis). I could explode them, flatten them and then remake the contours, but it would take several hours. I think I could just toggle some setting for contour display (I have LDT and Civil 3D 2005) and have them all moved to a zero elevation, but I want them at their true elevation. Is there a way to change the vertical scale of a selection set of contours, without affecting other contours in the drawing?
Thanks,
David

Use quick select and set the elevation property to get the ones you want to move would be one way to do it.

As I understand you have the following:
contour with truly elevation 10 meters, has elevation 10 meters in the drawing (for example),
contour with truly elevation 12,5 meters, has elevation 137 meters in the drawing and so on.
If so, then you can do the following thing:
select all you wrong contours. Then make a block, which consists of those contours. Open the property window, select created block, and at the field "Scale Z" type 0.019685039 (it means 2.5/127).
After that adjust z-position of block, using elevation of any contour and MOVE command.
And finally explode your block.
Elevations should be corrected.
