hello to anyone out there who can help me. I just started at a new job and they have set me up on AutoCad Map 5. The IT person is of coarse on vacation, so I need to know...Does this Autocad map 5 have Express Tools? If not, if I have the express tools in a folder that I had saved from a previous Cad that I used, could it be possible to load the menus and the express work in map 5? Just wanting to know. I am going backwards instead of forwards with Cad in this new job!! I use to run on LDDT 2005 with Express, Raster, Civil , and Map 2005 3D!!! Anyway, someone please help! I love Express tools and it is hard to work without them now!

Perhaps a mod can move this, but until then, try typing "expresstools" (minus quotes) at the command line & hit enter.

Welcome to AUGI & if this dosen't work, we'll go from there.

Hi msanders

Please note I've *moved* this thread from the New Users (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=47) Forum to this one as I believe it would be better served here.

Below snippet is from the small print on the Forum General (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=44) page (also refer to attached image) -

As far as I can remember, map 5 did not come with express tools.

For bringing in previous versions of the express tools, check out this thread. Read down a little and you will find what you need.

Okay, I have loaded my Express tools menu, everything looks great, toolbars are there, but the toolbars for the express will not work. Tells me they do not exist. When I close Cad and reopen, an error message appears "Unable to load acetutil.arx", but that file is in the Support folder and the Express folder...hmmmmm...It does not say "Can't find", but "Unable to load"
Any other suggestions??? Maybe it is just the version of Cad I have is not compatibile? AutoCad Map 5. I still think if it would load as far as it did, there has to be some hope.....

Express Tools have some dll's and ocx's that need to be registered to enable all of the tools to work properly. If you can find the file etv1-9.exe on your server, that is the installation file for them. This will register the needed files and add the hook to load the aceutil.arx routine.

Try typing in EXPRESSTOOLS like Steve recommend. I'm not 100%, but I think this will load everything up.

Yep, I've already typed expressmenu at the command line. Everything loaded "successfully" as it said....but when you try to click on a toolbar from the express toolbars, nothing happens....Saying Unable to load the acetutil.arx file...but that file is in the folder, just not wanting to load it for some reason.

Try EXPRESSTOOLS, Its a different command.

Hello again,
I was sent a file named ETV1-9 and was told to install on my system. When I click the file and tries to take me to the Internet Explorer, but for some reason, it just sits and sits and never does anything. What exactly should I be doing with this file? Opening from Cad? or just double clicking from my folder that I saved it in? This is for my Express tools to work properly since I'm missing some files for this express tools to work. Thanks.

You should be able to just doubleclick the exe file in the folder you saved it to. BTW, did you change the extension back to exe?
