using leaders under the utilities menu gives me a FATAL ERROR (the program crashes) if I do not type in any text on the leader. If I type in any text at all I don't have this problem.

Hit enter when you first start the command to access the settings and select the radio button next to None in Attachment. You can attach to text later if you want to using QLATTACH.

Are you using Leaders from the Autocad Dimensions or the Land Leaders? I don't have 2005 so I don't know. In 04 there were separate leader commands, one in Utilities pulldown and the Autocad variety. To change the settings for the ACAD type, you could right-click after entering the command and select Settings, and perform the steps above. To change LDT Leaders, you had to go to the Land - Utility pulldown and set them there. You can access the Leaders Settings by using the Projects > Drawing Settings command, or the Utilities > Leaders > Leader Settings command.

I just checked the KB at ADESK and it says there are still two sepaprate Leader commands, so you might want to check the settings under the Utilities Pulldown.

did that, still Crashes. On the AutoDesk site several folks have had the same problem, but no cure yet. I,m hoping someone has the fix.

I have found a remedy when acad 2005 just won't work, and should be used as a last
resort to fix an existing install of LDT. But, it does have some fixes. I use the add/remove
programs and do the change to Land Developement Desktop 2005 and do the CHANGE
instead of REMOVE then use the option of reinstall/repair option then the repair registry.
I does a nice job of those errors when loadup occurs and it has done very nicely on
fixing a faulty registry in Win XP when you think you have to do a complete reinstall. But, if you have an IT guy, have him give the approval to do this... speaking from experience.

Back to leaders using qleader in Land hasn't died on me yet. I don't use the text portion
due to it not working as expected most of the time. I just add my own mtext/text and am alot happier in the long run. I hope this helps alittle bit.
