I am trying to use the ATTEXT function to export a space delimited file. I cannot seem to get this function to work because I do not have a template file. Can anyone explain to me how this function works or where I can locate a template? I am using AutoCAD LT2002.

Thanks

it had been a looong while since I did one of these. I used the help files to create my template (which was very difficult, I recall)
you have to make a txt document with the attribute um, entry names, plus the format that the information within the attributes will follow...

for example, this is one of mine (used to extract door numbering information)

bn c002000
fl n002000
drn n003000
z c001000

bn is for my first attribute, building number, then the 'c' denotes a character, the 'n' denotes a number...

couldn't tell you the exact specifics, you'll really have to look it up in the help file, and customize with your attribute information

HTH... if you get started and run into a roadblock creating your template, more specific questions and details about your attributes will help...

Try using the Attribute Extract tool on the Modify II Toolbar or type in EATTEXT. This woks like a wizard and guides you through the steps. It also will allow you to create a template for future use.

Hi

Please note I've *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD General (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=120) Forum to this one....

Why? - AutoCAD LT has a much limited tool set for such operations, and as far as I am aware EAttExt is not available in AutoCAD LT (unless it was added in LT 2006).

Thanks, Mike

Thanks Mike, I must have missed the LT. I hope I did not cause any additional confusion.
