http://www.macro-recorder.com

Found this today.... Looks very intersting.

I am planning to use it to ensure each time I print I get a PDF of of the print job too - all with one action. I should be able to save file, print to PDF from Revit - then print straight to plotter from Acrobat - save a copy of PDF to job archive with a suitable name.......
Sure there could be many, many other uses too. Ir records mouse movement etc too -

so I could potentially remove a lot of mouse clicks from Revit with this. You can assign hotkeys to run macros, which lets you basically create new commands - If used in conjunction with strokeit - http://www.tcbmi.com/strokeit/ - pretty powerful tool :)

How has the macro recording worked for you in conjunction with revit?

I have been using a similar program (JitBit Macro Recorder) and have found it immensely useful for a whole range of things.

I have a macro set up to print all the sheets to PDF and then once printed to pdf then to print the pdf to the network printer for a paper copy.

I have other macro's set up to change a 3d architectural view to a Structural view in the blink of an eye, or to set a plan up to show shadows at a particular time of the day etc.

I have really only scratched the surface of the benefit of having a macro set up for repetitive tasks. I expect a few months from now to have many, many functions set up this way.

Cheers,

Ian

We are also looking for ways to automate repetitive tasks in Revit.

Are these programs still working well for you? Are there other macro-recording, or similar, programs available that play well with Revit?

Should I look into the VSTA tools instead, or will that be too complicated if we simply want to automate a few tedious tasks.

(We use Revit MEP 2010 & 2011 on Windows XP Pro 64-bit.)

Thanks!

Hi Tony,

My weapons of choice these days is a combination of AutoHotKey/StrokeIt commands and a logitech G15 programmable keyboard. Between these, I can automate pretty much whatever I want.

There are a few threads which details these:

http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=109631 for a good AutoHotKey/StrokeIt scripts

http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=109341 Logitech Keyboard

If you search for AutoHotKey, you will find a number of other scripts created by users.

Cheers,

Ian
