Nothing like jumping in with both feet, under the gun, being watched & by yourself. That was my day today.

There are several components to making the CUI work.

The workspace should be configured & set current first, before messing with the CUI.
In Options, under the files tab, there is an opening for specifying your main & enterprise CUI.
CUILOAD will load the CUI's you want to work with.
CUI will let you modify your workspace setup.
It's all much clearer now than the dark cloud of gloom that hung around my monitor this morning. Just wanted to share this breifly with the other souls out there trying to make this work.

But seriously, yes, that's useful stuff to know. It's also worth knowing that editing (or at least looking at) the CUI with Notepad (or VLIDE, or whatever) is perfectly possible and safe (for sensible people!), is sometimes much easier and quicker than using the "approved" methods, and can be a very useful learning tool.
