I understand the purpose of the enterprise cui but I have a couple of questions:

1. I understand that one of the main purposes of the Ent. cui is to have a cui that users cannot screw up. However, does this simply mean that they can add and remove toolbar buttons but not modify their definitions? I wan't my users to be able to say "I don't want that custom toolbar".

2. I'm having trouble figuring out how I allow myself to modify the enterprise cui while not allowing others. Is it a matter of network rights, or is there something in acad that I am missing?

Thanks

If you follow what Robert's suggestion on how to setup your CUI in the "Notes on the philosophy of CUI" (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=18955) thread, the user can make their custom menus in the custom CUI that will be the main CUI.

Ex.
-Custom.cui (Main)
-Office.cui (Enterprise)
--Acad
--Express

Is it a matter of network rights, or is there something in acad that I am missing? You will set up 2 profiles on your system. One for normal work and another for modifying the enterprise cui. The profile for normal work will be set up just like everyone else. The profile for modifying the enterprise CUI will have the enterprise CUI set as the main CUI.

Ex.
-Office.cui (Main)
--Acad
--Express

OK, I successfully migrated my old settings and got it installed on a second computer properly by importing the profile.

Now, as discussed, on the second computer I designated "Custom" as the Main CUI and our Office std as the enterprise.

At first the pulldowns got doubled, basically two sets of the same pulldowns. When I went into the CUI panel, CUSTOM(the main cui) is listed as Read Only. I can't change a thing this way. After I got out and restarted however, the menus are fine but the Custom CUI is still read only.

Whats Up?

Not sure if this is the solution, but worth a try.

Go to options under the file tab. There you will see "Customization Files". Under that "Main Customization File". This should point to the CUI that you are using for main.

Yes. The main customization is set to the autodesk supplied "Custom.CUI".

When I go into the CUI dialog, Custom.cui(Main) is listed as read only.
