View Full Version : Globally changing the drive letter of all xref paths

Hi,

I have a situation in which I need to change only the drive letter designation in the path description of xrefs contained in thousands of drawing files.

I have looked at reference manager and I don't see any way to wildcard a change.

The drawings that I need to convert are not as well organized as they should be. It seems that no one ever follows a standard! :-(

The only thing that will be changing is the drive letter designation and it would be ideal to simply wildcard the rest so that individual xrefs do not need to be touched.

Thank you very much!

Greg

I hate to say it but I dont believe that this can be easilly fixed?.... You might be able to write a script to accomplish this?

(I've never had to do this... So I'm guessing.)

What about the EXPRESS TOOLS command XPATH?

Hi,

This can be done using the reference manager program that comes shipped with Autocad. simply use "find and replace". "find" the old drive letter and "replace" with the new drive letter. I just fixed about 100 drawings on my computer.

Brad

P.S. using 2005 here.

Our IT dept. just did that with some "special program". If you like I can find out what it was.

Because they like to appear as though they are the ones that are finding the solutions?

Because they want to justify their oversized budget so as not to have it decreased for next year?

I could go on but I don't like to over-speculate on situations when I am told that I'm just a drafter and apparently do not know enough to help out. :screwy:

Nope, I'm not bitter.
