View Full Version : is that curve really tangent?

Howdy y'all.

I'm working with an alignment in MAP. I need to determine if the curves and tangents are actually tangent to each other at their intersection. Is there a quick way to do this, without having to generate dims? Ulitmately I'd like to just pick a tangent and then a curve and see what the angle between them is.

Probably too simplistic but -

line to arc : a line from centre of arc to endpoint of line will form 90 deg angle with original line

arc to arc : a line between arc centres will cross at tangent point = endpoint of each arc.

In map there is a command called _MAPCGANG. It also on the "Input and Inquiry" toolbar. When you start the command chose the points option. pick the center of your curve, then the point the curve intersects with the line, and a point on the line. If you get a 90%%D angle then they are tangent.

Kinda' figured you'd come though. That'll do it. Thanks!

Hi Doug

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD General (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=120) Forum to this one as I feel this particular Forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

Thanks, Mike
